The Well-Balanced Pianist Fall Package 2022

The Well-Balanced Pianist Fall 2022 Package features two days of clinics, small-group coaching sessions, and bodywork instruction presented by our outstanding faculty in a supportive, interactive environment.

When: Sunday November 13, 2022 & Sunday December 4,  12:00 pm to 5:30 – 6:30 pm Eastern Time US*

Platform: Zoom (a free Zoom account is sufficient)

Faculty: Piano Instructors Teresa Dybvig and Susan Nowicki, and Aston-Patterning Specialist Judy Huston

Participants: Registration is limited to ensure everyone receives personal attention. Pianists high school age and above are invited to participate.

Note: No previous experience in the Taubman Approach, Aston-Patterning, or the Feldenkrais Method is required for participation in this program.

*Depending on enrollment, our days will end between 5:30 – 6:30 pm Eastern. You will spend the same amount of time in clinics, movement, and coaching sessions regardless of the number of participants.

The Well-Balanced Faculty Teresa Dybvig, Susan Nowicki, and Judy Huston will work with participants to help them perform octave and chord passages without fatigue.

Judy Huston will help us start comfortably at the piano. Teresa Dybvig and Susan Nowicki will work with participants in two information-packed clinics. Everyone will receive additional coaching during two small-group sessions following the clinics. A mid-day break will allow us all to begin the second clinic with renewed energy.

Registration is limited so the faculty can give participants personal attention during clinics and coaching sessions.

You will receive help with optimal alignment, balance, and movement for playing octave, broken octave, and chord passages. We will provide sample excerpts and invite you to submit your own for discussion.

The Well-Balanced Pianist faculty Teresa Dybvig, Susan Nowicki, and Judy Huston will work with you to to help you play various Alberti and arpeggiated accompaniments with ease.

You will receive ideas about fingering strategies and optimal movement for Classical Alberti bass figures, arpeggios in close spacing, arpeggios with distant bass notes, and arpeggios with wide spacing. We will provide excerpts to work with and invite you to submit your own for discussion.

Tuition:

Because everyone receives personal attention, each program is limited to 12 participants.

The tuition for the Fall 2022 One-Day Programs package is $695.

Payment is due at registration.

Registration policies:

Participants are accepted in the order of registrations received. A place in the program is provisional, pending receipt of the tuition payment. The place is fully secured once the payment is received.

Registration deadline: November 7, 2022

Refunds: $50 handling fee is nonrefundable. The remainder of your tuition is refundable until November 6, 2022. No refunds after November 6, 2022.

Because the outcome of any training depends not only upon the teacher but also upon the quality of mindfulness, attention, and perspective the student brings to the work, we cannot guarantee any outcome, result, or improvement from participation in The Well-Balanced Pianist lessons or programs. For the same reasons, The Well-Balanced Pianist is not responsible for any direct, indirect, consequential, special, or other damages, including, but not limited to economic loss, injury, or illness, that may result from participating in The Well-Balanced Pianist lessons or programs.
